FAQ

How can I get books delivered to me?

Please fill in the form and we’ll get back to you to arrange. If you can’t fill in the form, you can email us or get in touch over Facebook.

We can deliver within the YO7 postcode area.

How much does it cost?

It’s free.

Who delivers the books?

The books will be selected by one library volunteer who will pass to Community Works for their volunteer drivers to deliver.

Do I have to be a member of the library?

You don’t have to already be a member of the library, but if you’d like some books, we will ask for some details from you to sign you up so that we have a record of who has borrowed what.

Can I choose which books I get?

We can only deliver books we have in stock, no reservations can be made and volunteers will select books.

Let us know what type of books you want, which authors you like, any favourite topics and the age and interests of children and we will do our best.

When will my books come?

We can’t guarantee what day your books will come as the volunteers will be prioritising food and medicine deliveries.

How do I return the books? Will I have to pay fines if they’re late back?

When you’ve finished with your books, we will arrange collection. No fines are chargeable on any library books at the moment.

How do you make sure the books are safe from coronavirus?

We will do all we can to reduce risk with only one person touching the books. They will be delivered by volunteers from Community Works who are also delivering food, shopping, prescriptions etc.

When we give them out they will have been handled by one volunteer who will wash hands before touching books, select, put through scanner and put straight in bag. Only one volunteer in library at a time.

It’s a small risk but the advice we have is that the virus can live on paper for 23 hours and up to 72 hours on plastic and of course a lot of books have plastic covers.

When books are returned, we are planning boxes with dates on them so we isolate any returned books for 72 hours.
